A Stranger on the Beach

Caroline has a stunning new beach house. It's meant to impress the people who attend her expensive parties and it's supposed to be a vacation house for her and the family she thought she'd have. But her husband is lying to her and her life is turned upside down. She turns to the stranger she saw outside her house for comfort and revenge. This fling means nothing to Caroline, but it means everything to Aiden. His obsession with Caroline, her house and her family is disturbing. And when her husband goes missing, she's accused of his murder. This started off okay, but not long into the book it all began to unravel quickly. The writing was absolutely terrible. It's amateurish - repetitive, hard to follow and the story dragged. The characters weren't that great. The whole thing lacked depth. It was all so awful. I couldn't bring myself to finish this one, and I hate not finishing a book. Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC.  1...

Lucy: Speak Out!

Lucy is standing up for equal rights for women, Woodstock takes up farming, Peppermint Patty is having trouble with schoolwork, Charlie Brown's bad luck lands him in the hospital, and Snoopy's just having a good ol' time. Peanuts comics are always a joy to read and they always bring a smile to my face. It doesn't matter how old you are, pick up a copy! There's something in here for everyone. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an ARC. 5/5.

Between the Lies

Chloe has just come out of a coma. She has no memory of what happened to her and she doesn't recognize the strangers that call themselves her family. As she returns to her parents home to recover, she begins to uncover their secrets and lies and starts to remember her old life and what she lost. I saw this on Netgalley and decided not to request it because it sounds like so many others I've read. But then I got an invite to read it, so I figured why not. It started off good. I was very interested to find out what Chloe's family was hiding and why. It's not a bad book, but there was nothing special about it to make it stand out. Some decent twists and suspense, but it's also slow-moving and repetitious and boring in spots. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for my copy.  3/5.

Lost You

Three years ago Libby's husband left her and their infant son Ethan. She's been struggling to launch her writing career while also taking care of Ethan. But now things are looking up and mother and son are on their way to have some fun on vacation. Although it's not much fun looking over your shoulder every minute. Libby has never told anyone about what happened when Ethan was born, and no one could find her at a faraway resort, right? Wrong. Ethan wanders into an elevator and disappears. CCTV footage shows an adult leading Ethan away by the hand. When then woman and Ethan are found hours later, the woman tells everyone she's Ethan's mother. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but I know this wasn't it. It starts off intense and gripping. Libby loves her son Ethan and is very attentive, but all it takes is the blink of an eye to lose him. So what's going on?! Who is this woman who has Ethan and how is she his mother?! The book was even...

I Know You

Taylor has just moved to London from California for a fresh start with her husband. They have a baby on the way, and her husband spends a lot of time away from home due to work, so Taylor is desperate for friends. She joins a walking group and a book club. She meets four different friends - Simon, Anna, Sarah, and Caroline. And they all seem to have secrets of their own. This was good! It's told from Taylor's point-of-view, but every now and then we'd get a glimpse into the mind of a stalker. They want to ruin someone's life and they're using this person's social media as a weapon. Who is this person?! The author would feed us a little morsel of information and it drove me crazy, I couldn't stand not knowing what was going on! But to be honest, I enjoyed the book better when I had that suspense. It just wasn't the same when I got to the big reveal. It was clever, but I liked it better when I didn't know. I loved the suspense. Great char...
