Between the Lies

Chloe has just come out of a coma. She has no memory of what happened to her and she doesn't recognize the strangers that call themselves her family. As she returns to her parents home to recover, she begins to uncover their secrets and lies and starts to remember her old life and what she lost. I saw this on Netgalley and decided not to request it because it sounds like so many others I've read. But then I got an invite to read it, so I figured why not. It started off good. I was very interested to find out what Chloe's family was hiding and why. It's not a bad book, but there was nothing special about it to make it stand out. Some decent twists and suspense, but it's also slow-moving and repetitious and boring in spots. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for my copy.  3/5.

Lost You

Three years ago Libby's husband left her and their infant son Ethan. She's been struggling to launch her writing career while also taking care of Ethan. But now things are looking up and mother and son are on their way to have some fun on vacation. Although it's not much fun looking over your shoulder every minute. Libby has never told anyone about what happened when Ethan was born, and no one could find her at a faraway resort, right? Wrong. Ethan wanders into an elevator and disappears. CCTV footage shows an adult leading Ethan away by the hand. When then woman and Ethan are found hours later, the woman tells everyone she's Ethan's mother. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but I know this wasn't it. It starts off intense and gripping. Libby loves her son Ethan and is very attentive, but all it takes is the blink of an eye to lose him. So what's going on?! Who is this woman who has Ethan and how is she his mother?! The book was even

I Know You

Taylor has just moved to London from California for a fresh start with her husband. They have a baby on the way, and her husband spends a lot of time away from home due to work, so Taylor is desperate for friends. She joins a walking group and a book club. She meets four different friends - Simon, Anna, Sarah, and Caroline. And they all seem to have secrets of their own. This was good! It's told from Taylor's point-of-view, but every now and then we'd get a glimpse into the mind of a stalker. They want to ruin someone's life and they're using this person's social media as a weapon. Who is this person?! The author would feed us a little morsel of information and it drove me crazy, I couldn't stand not knowing what was going on! But to be honest, I enjoyed the book better when I had that suspense. It just wasn't the same when I got to the big reveal. It was clever, but I liked it better when I didn't know. I loved the suspense. Great char

Two Can Keep a Secret

Ellery and her twin brother, Ezra, have heard all about the small town their mother grew up in and was desperate to escape from, but they've never been there. Their aunt went missing when she was seventeen. And five years ago, a homecoming queen was murdered there. Now they have to live in this town with a grandmother they hardly know. As soon as they arrive, bad things begin to happen. And another girl goes missing. It seems to Ellery that everyone in the small town of Echo Ridge is hiding something, and most people aren't good at keeping secrets. I loved One of Us Is Lying so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I devoured this book. It was so easy to get lost in the story and I could not turn the pages fast enough. Very suspenseful, full of twists and turns. I thought I had everything figured out but I was quite happy when I learned I was totally wrong. This was just so fun to read, it was always one thing after another but it never felt like it was too much or t

Until the Day I Die

Erin Gaines has been working nonstop since her husband's sudden death. The two of them, along with their two best friends, have built a very successful tech company and Erin is finding everything overwhelming. Her friends and family think that a few weeks at a spa resort may benefit her, help her slow down. Erin's daughter, Shorie, is worried about her mother and she's worried about the future of the company she loves, especially when she begins to suspect someone is stealing money. But Erin doesn't know what's going on back home. She's thousands of miles away where she now knows she wasn't sent away to relax, she was sent away to disappear forever. Gorgeous cover. I was hooked from page one and did not want to stop turning those pages. The writing was good, the book flowed well and I enjoyed both Erin's and Shorie's point-of-view. Interesting concept with the idea and creation and running their own business as well as being sent to wha

The Banker's Wife

Annabel is now living in Geneva with her banker husband Matthew. But her life has just crashed and burned much like the plane that was carrying Matthew. But something doesn't add up when she finds clues surrounding her husband's death. He may not have been the man she thought he was. Journalist Marina is looking into Swiss United, the bank where Matthew worked, and she uncovers evidence of a global financial scandal that will put her life in danger. This was a very interesting look into the dark world of offshore accounts and the powerful, corrupt people who will stop at nothing to keep secrets. It was a realistic read that kept me tense. These women were living in a dangerous world and I didn't really know what would happen to them. I'd hate to be on the run and looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life. Well-written right to the satisfying end. 5/5.
