Alice Cooper Vol. 1: Welcome to My Nightmare

I love the concept - a comic book about rock legend Alice Cooper with demons and nightmares. Along with the illustrations that's all I loved. The writing wasn't great. It was sometimes confusing. I couldn't wait to finish it so it'd be over with. Disappointing.

Academy Girls

This novel takes us back and forth between present day Jane Milton - reluctantly returning to her old boarding school as a first time teacher because she is out of options to pay back her ex-husband's debt. And Jane Milton 35-years ago, during her senior year at Grove Academy. Jane and her two best friends Kat and Lissa are convinced their English teacher was involved in an unsolved murder that took place on school grounds. They dissect lines and lines of poetry looking for clues that will prove she's guilty. Thanks to her least favourite student, and an old friend and now colleague, present day Jane is able to finally uncover several truths and put the past to rest. A really solid story. Filled with good writing, backstabbing, mystery and intrigue. And unfortunately poetry.

Death on Ibiza

A flat, predictable, boring, anticlimactic book about a personal trainer who ends up working for the son of one of the island's richest men. He wakes up with no memory of the wild party that went on the night before and finds himself among a bunch of corpses, wearing a blood-soaked shirt with a gun in his hand. Did he kill all these people? I'm sure you can guess the answer. I considered abandoning it, but I can't not finish a book.

The Angel of Eden

I could tell before I finished the first page that this book was going to be good. John Madison is an art and antiquities dealer living in New York. He has been hired by a famous magician to find a rare sixteenth century book on angel magic and the former assistant who stole it and disappeared 35 years ago. In order to do this John must travel to Turkey and Iran where he not only discovers the true location of the Garden of Eden but also who he really is.  Great descriptions, interesting facts, short chapters (but lots of them!) The author makes you feel as though you're along for the ride. I won a copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads.

Stop The Diet, I Want To Get Off!

Cotton ball diet? Really? There are lots of (crazy) fad diets out there and it's easy to get caught up in them when you want to shed those unwanted pounds, but the reality is that you have to eat right and exercise. The author does a good job of listing healthy foods and portions and how many calories we can burn during certain activities. She gives us tips on how to start our journey as well as websites that may help. It's a good book to have around the house.  I won a copy through Goodreads First Reads.
